A staffing plan that stopped planning endless lines
1formula for the first fix
- Scale
- A deployed model that sizes service stations
- Methods
- Queueing math, staged fixes, simulation only where needed
The problem
The model planned for 100% busy. That sounds efficient. It isn't: at 100% busy, any small rush builds a line that never clears.
What I did
A staged fix, cheapest first. One formula to size stations for about 85% busy. Then wait-time math a design team can follow. Then different treatment for a station everyone passes and one that splits the crowd. Simulation last, only where the math breaks.

What changed
- The first fix shipped in days.
- That cheap step carries most of the benefit.
- The expensive tooling waits until it's earned.
What this looks like for you
I don't reach for the fanciest tool. I reach for the one that moves your number soonest.
